Simple Morning Funeral
A shorter funeral at the crematorium, with time to say goodbye.
Our Simple Morning Funeral is for people who would like to attend the crematorium, but don't want a longer, more formal service. There is around 20 minutes in the chapel for music, readings, a prayer or simply some time together.
Our funeral fee is £1,950The crematorium fee and your chosen coffin are additional.

What is a Simple Morning Funeral?
This is an attended cremation at a shorter morning chapel booking. We offer it at Honor Oak, Beckenham and Hither Green Crematoria.
The crematorium booking is 30 minutes, which usually allows around 20 minutes for the funeral itself, with time for everyone to enter and leave. We can help you decide what you'd like to include, and one of our funeral directors will be there on the day.
We'll care for the person who has died at our funeral home in Forest Hill, arrange the necessary paperwork and make the arrangements with the crematorium. You're also welcome to spend time with the person who has died before the funeral, by appointment.
The service
What happens in the chapel?
You can decide what you'd like to do during the time available. A celebrant or minister can lead the funeral, but you don't have to appoint one.
Music
Perhaps there's a piece of music the person who has died particularly loved, or something you'd like everyone to listen to together.
Readings or prayers
You might ask someone to read a poem, share a few words or lead a prayer. We can help with the arrangements.
Time together
You may prefer to spend the time quietly together, without a formal ceremony.

How much does it cost?
Our funeral fee is £1,950 whichever crematorium you choose. The crematoria charge different amounts for their shorter morning services. You'll also need to choose a coffin.

What's included in our £1,950 fee?
We'll explain everything involved and look after the arrangements from your first conversation with us through to the funeral.
- A conversation with one of our funeral directors to discuss what you'd like and complete the necessary paperwork.
- Collection of the person who has died from within the M25, subject to the additional charges set out below.
- Our care and attention in the mortuary at our beautiful funeral home in Forest Hill, for up to 21 days.
- The opportunity to spend time with the person who has died at our funeral home, by appointment.
- Making the arrangements with the crematorium and helping you plan the service.
- Transport of the coffin to the crematorium in a discreet funeral vehicle.
- One of our funeral directors attending the funeral.
- Advice and guidance if you'd like to carry the coffin yourselves, subject to the crematorium's requirements.
- A personalised online funeral page, with the option to share arrangements and collect RSVPs.

Some costs are necessary, others depend on your circumstances or what you decide you'd like. We'll send you an itemised estimate so you can see everything together.
The coffin
You will need to choose a coffin in addition to the fees above. Our online coffin directory includes wooden, willow, cardboard and other choices, with prices shown throughout.

There's an additional £250 charge for collection from a private home or nursing home, and for an immediate collection from a private hospital or hospice.
We'll explain whether this applies when we know the circumstances.
People to carry the coffin
Friends or other people close to you may be able to carry the coffin themselves, with our guidance. If you'd prefer professional bearers, they're £80 each.
Other choices
A traditional black hearse is available for an additional £200. A celebrant or minister, flowers, printed orders of service, visual tributes and livestreaming can also be arranged separately.

A cremation without an attended service. Our published price is £1,975, including a simple coffin and the cremation fee. A collection supplement may apply.

How much time do we have in the chapel?
The booking lasts 30 minutes. This normally allows around 20 minutes for the funeral, once people have entered and left the chapel.
Do we need a celebrant or minister?
No. You can ask someone you know to speak, have music or prayers, or spend the time together quietly. If you'd like a celebrant or minister, we can help arrange one.
Can we carry the coffin ourselves?
Usually, yes, provided it is safe and the crematorium permits it. We'll explain what's involved. We can arrange professional bearers for £80 each if you'd prefer.
Is the coffin included in the prices?
No. Each total includes our £1,950 funeral fee and the crematorium's charge. The coffin is separate, and you can browse all our coffins and their prices online.
Can we visit the person who has died before the funeral?
Yes. You're welcome to arrange a visit at our funeral home in Forest Hill.
Can we have a longer service or choose another crematorium?
Yes. We can help with a Tailored Funeral if you'd like more time, a different crematorium or another venue altogether.

Payments and published prices
We'll give you a written estimate with all the costs set out before you make arrangements.
Payment arrangements
Payment is required in full before the funeral, and we accept bank transfers. Funeral expenses may sometimes be paid directly from the estate, subject to the bank's requirements. You can find information about Funeral Expenses Payment on GOV.UK.

Complaints procedure
If you have concerns about our service, please email funerals@poetic-endings.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints within three working days and investigate within five working days where possible. If a complaint isn't resolved, you can contact SAIF for information about its complaints procedure.
