Funerals can be different
Poetic Endings was founded on a simple belief: funerals should not be shaped by convention alone. People deserve to understand their options, make informed choices and arrange something that reflects the person who has died.
We arrange traditional, modern, simple and more unusual funerals across London. Some are intimate and understated; others involve many people, places and moving parts. We don't impose a particular style. We listen, explore what's possible and make the arrangements work.
Behind every funeral is careful, often unseen work: caring for the person who has died, coordinating people and places, checking details and keeping promises. Creativity matters, but so do reliability, good judgement and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.

How we work together
Our team is small, and everyone contributes. We expect thoughtful decisions, clear communication and a high standard of care, whether the task is visible on the day or happens quietly behind the scenes.
Use your judgement
Plans change, and no two situations are alike. We value people who ask good questions, think clearly, know when to ask for help and can make sensible decisions.
Follow through
Good intentions aren't enough. Being organised, communicating well and following through on the smallest details are all part of looking after people properly.
Different paths into funerals
Experience comes from many places
Our team brings experience from funeral directing and other fields, including events, writing, the arts, charity work and bereavement support. We believe those different perspectives make our work stronger.
You might bring years of funeral experience, or skills developed in a completely different profession. Emotional intelligence, initiative, sound judgement and excellent organisation are all important here.
What matters most is that you're genuinely interested in the work, understand the responsibility it carries and are willing to learn.

Much of funeral directing happens out of sight. It involves sensitive conversations, practical problem-solving, caring for people after death and bringing together many details so the day itself runs as it should.
What matters
We value discretion, curiosity, resilience and warmth, alongside the ability to stay organised and calm when things are difficult. Kindness and capability need to go together.
What to expect
The work can be unpredictable, time-sensitive and emotionally demanding. It's also varied and collaborative, and offers the satisfaction of making a practical difference when it matters.
