A real funeral story
Punk Kath’s funeral
Rest in punk, Punk Kath.
A final journey through the streets of London, surrounded by the people, colour and noise of communities who loved Kath.
A photographic remembrance
One farewell. A great many people. No need for a conventional script.
Kath’s funeral was a remarkable gathering: vivid colours, punk clothes, flowers, flags and people coming together on the streets of London. The photographs capture a journey that looked and sounded entirely different from a traditional procession.
Out on the streets
A procession full of personality
Pink leopard print, rainbow feathers, banners and a great many friends accompanied Kath’s woven coffin. Many people came together for the journey, turning the streets into a place of remembrance.

Care & ceremony
A woven coffin, flowers and a gathering
Alongside the colour and commotion were the quieter details: a natural woven coffin, generous flowers and people helping to carry Kath. Inside the chapel, those gathered had the opportunity to be together.
People coming together
A community farewell
In the photographs, the procession moves from the street to a busy open space and into a chapel full of people. The images speak for themselves: Kath was remembered in the company of a great many people.
