A ceremony in the park, with more than one way to say goodbye

GreenAcres Kemnal Park is first and foremost a place for funeral ceremonies. It's also a cemetery and a place for woodland and other types of burial, within 56 acres of parkland in Chislehurst.

You can hold a complete funeral ceremony in the hall, with the coffin present, before cremation at a crematorium. Alternatively, the funeral can be followed by burial within the park itself.

This makes Kemnal Park an option for people who want something different from a conventional crematorium chapel, without having to give up the choice of cremation.

Good to know: Kemnal Park is not a crematorium. You can hold the funeral ceremony here, but cremation takes place afterwards at a crematorium.

A funeral ceremony here

A funeral ceremony at Kemnal Park

Kemnal Park has contemporary, multi-faith service halls for religious and non-religious ceremonies. You can choose music, readings, photographs and personal tributes, with the coffin present throughout the service.

Poetic Endings can arrange and coordinate the funeral, including the coffin, transport, celebrant or minister, flowers and orders of service. We'll work with the GreenAcres team on the ceremony timing and arrangements.

If you have chosen cremation, GreenAcres arranges for the coffin to be taken to a crematorium after the ceremony. There is no second service to attend.

For a larger gathering, the hall is listed as seating up to 180 people. We can help you plan for the number of guests expected.

Time among the gardens

Beyond the ceremony building are woodland paths, planted gardens and open spaces. Some people appreciate having somewhere outdoors to walk or sit before or after the funeral.

The Daisy Garden is one of the landscaped areas within Kemnal Park. The surroundings offer a different experience from arriving at a busy crematorium.

Burial and woodland

Woodland burial and traditional graves

Kemnal Park is also a working cemetery, offering a wider range of burial choices than a natural burial ground alone.

There are burial and remembrance areas in woodland, meadow, lawns and formal gardens. Some areas are suited to more natural memorials, while other parts of the park allow traditional graves and headstones.

If you're considering burial here, we can help you understand the different areas, check what is available and arrange a ceremony in the hall before going to the graveside. A smaller gathering at the graveside is also possible.

A place to return to

If someone is buried here, or their ashes are laid to rest in the park, Kemnal Park can become somewhere to visit over the years.

As well as graves, GreenAcres offers choices for the interment of ashes, remembrance gardens and dedicated trees. Kemnal Park also has some more traditional memorial options, including stone memorials in designated areas.

You don't have to decide about ashes or memorials at the same time as arranging the funeral. We can explain what can be considered later.
