GreenAcres
Epping Park
A woodland setting for a personal funeral, whether you have chosen cremation or natural burial.

A funeral surrounded by woodland
GreenAcres Epping Park is a 52-acre woodland memorial park in North Weald, with a beautiful ceremony hall looking out towards the trees.
It offers a different setting for a funeral. You can hold a complete ceremony in the Woodland Hall, with the coffin present, followed by cremation at a crematorium.
Alternatively, the funeral can be followed by a burial in the park's woodland or other burial areas. You may prefer a service in the hall before the burial, or a simpler gathering at the graveside.
Good to know: GreenAcres Epping Park is a ceremony venue and burial ground, not a crematorium. If you choose cremation, the funeral can take place here and the cremation follows at a crematorium. Poetic Endings arranges the funeral ceremony, and GreenAcres arranges the coffin’s transfer to the crematorium.

A ceremony in the Woodland Hall
The Woodland Hall is designed to bring the natural surroundings into the ceremony, with timber, glass and views into the trees.
With the coffin present, the service can include music, readings, photographs, personal tributes and contributions from friends. A celebrant, minister or someone close to the person who has died can lead the ceremony.
If you have chosen cremation, GreenAcres arranges for the coffin to be taken to a crematorium after the funeral. There is no need for a second ceremony.
You can have a woodland funeral ceremony without choosing a woodland burial. The place where you say goodbye and the place where cremation happens do not have to be the same.

Arriving at the park
Guests arrive along Kiln Road and make their way through the grounds to the Woodland Hall.
A personal farewell
The funeral takes place in the hall, with the coffin present and the woodland just beyond the windows.
Cremation afterwards
GreenAcres arranges for the coffin to be taken to a crematorium, where cremation takes place without another service.

Woodland through the seasons
At Epping Park, the landscape is a significant part of the experience. Woodland paths, glades and changing seasonal colour give the surroundings a very different feeling from a traditional crematorium chapel.
The Woodland Hall and the nearby Gathering Hall sit within this natural setting, offering space for the ceremony and time together afterwards.
Woodland and natural burial at Epping Park
Epping Park is also a burial ground. Its woodland, meadow and landscaped areas offer choices beyond a conventional cemetery setting.
You can hold the funeral in the Woodland Hall before a burial within the park, or gather at the graveside. We can help you consider the setting, the ceremony and the type of coffin or shroud you would like.
There are also places within the grounds for the burial or scattering of ashes, including memorial trees and garden settings.

A place to come back to
For someone buried at Epping Park, or whose ashes are placed here, the woodland can become somewhere to return to over the years.
The park offers different ways to remember someone, including shared tree circles, dedicated memorial trees and garden spaces. The surroundings change with the seasons, while remaining a place to visit and remember.
