IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Bruce Roy Purgavie

8th January 1940 – 7th October 2025

Bruce was a kind and joyful man who lived life with purpose, and brought charisma to every occasion. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many.

We weren’t ready to lose him and will miss him deeply.

We would love for you to join us in celebrating and remembering his wonderful life - please find details below.

Memorial
A memorial service will take place at Christ’s Chapel, Gallery Road, London SE21 7AD on Friday 7th November 2025 at 12:30 PM. The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend. Details will be made available below.

Wake
After the service, we’ll gather at Dulwich & Sydenham Golf Club to share our memories of Bruce over food and drink.

Flowers/Donations
Although sending flowers is a lovely gesture, we’d appreciate donations in Bruce’s memory to either of the charities below:

Alzheimer’s Society
Although Bruce’s own diagnosis and battle with Alzheimer’s was short, he lost his two older brothers to the disease, and we know many families lose loved ones to this cruel illness. The Alzheimer’s Society continues to drive vital research and support families through care and guidance.

RFU Injured Players Foundation
As many of you know, Bruce spent much of his time playing rugby and many joyful hours at Twickenham. The RFU Injured Players Foundation supports rugby players who sustain catastrophic spinal cord or acute severe traumatic brain injuries, and helps to prevent future injuries through research and education.
