Funeral Co-ordinator

All the work we do at Poetic Endings is based on the belief that good funerals are extremely important and how we treat the people in our care REALLY matters.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for someone who shares our beliefs to work with us in the important role of funeral co-ordinator, supporting our team to create thoughtful and meaningful funerals.

THE ROLE

Based in our beautiful funeral home in Forest Hill, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of administration and organisation, and ensuring the smooth running of the funeral home.

Examples of tasks you might be asked to undertake:

  • Sending out funeral paperwork, ensuring it is filled in correctly, sending it to the right place at the right time

  • Liaising with coroners, hospitals, GP surgeries, crematoria and cemeteries

  • Answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries

  • Welcoming clients to the funeral home

  • Ensuring the funeral home is well-presented at all times

  • Ordering music, webcasts & visual tributes

  • Creating online announcements & donation pages

  • Liaising with other stakeholders to ensure all elements of the funeral run smoothly behind the scenes

  • Supporting the founder with personal tasks and diary management

ABOUT YOU

This role is ideal for someone with impeccable administration and organisational skills, who wants to work in an environment where no two days are the same.

You’ll need to have excellent and up-to-date computer skills. We’re looking for someone who either knows or can quickly learn to use Adobe Sign, Squarespace, & Dropbox.

You’ll need to be detail-orientated, as you’ll be responsible for ensuring everything runs smoothly behind-the-scenes from a logistical and administrative perspective.

Your impeccable eye-for-detail will mean that the funeral home is always immaculately presented and running smoothly.

You’ll need to be organised, responsive and capable of using your own initiative, but have enough awareness not to overstep the mark.

Funerals can be intense so you’ll need to be a calm and supportive presence in emotionally challenging situations. We’re looking for someone who is sensitive to the needs of others, and is able to work with kindness, thoughtfulness and flexibility as core values, leaving all judgement at the door.

You’ll need to be well-presented and dressed appropriately – we never know who might come through the door of our funeral home.

You’ll need an excellent telephone manner - courteous, polite, friendly, gentle, patient and warm.

You’ll be attentive and ensure nothing goes unnoticed - we’ll never be without coffee, milk or washing up liquid when you’re around!

You’ll need to be an excellent communicator with the ability to work with people from all walks of life. We embrace and welcome the diversity of our community, and want everyone to feel safe, respected and valued.

You’ll need to know how to make an excellent cup of tea!

We love to work alongside committed individuals who are enthusiastic about the work we're doing to change funerals for the better. Whilst previous experience in the funeral industry is valued, it’s not essential.
