Alex died peacefully at home on Sunday 12th April 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 38 years old.

For almost five years, Alex lived with brain cancer with a grace, courage and determination that inspired everyone around him. He refused to be defined by his diagnosis - choosing instead to be defined by how he lived. His fearlessness, his good humour, and his fierce love of life never wavered. We weren’t ready to lose him. We never could have been.

Alex leaves behind his wife Anna, his beloved daughter Etta, who brought him so much joy, his mum and dad, Marie and Ed, brother Nick, sister Rebecca and his two nieces, Margot and Cora, as well as an army of friends.

The Funeral
Alex’s funeral will take place in The Conservatory at the Horniman Museum & Gardens, 100 London Road, London SE23 3PQ on Wednesday 13th May 2026 at 12:00 PM.

The service will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

Please arrive by 11:45 AM for a prompt start. If you arrive early, the gardens are beautiful - take a moment to enjoy them, as Alex would have.

Please note that parking around the Horniman is limited - please use public transport where possible. Visit the Horniman’s website to plan your journey.

Dress Code
We invite you to wear a pop of colour in celebration of Alex’s life and spirit. The Conservatory can be warm and bright in the sunshine, so we recommend also bringing sunglasses and a handheld fan.

Reception
After the service, we’ll gather at The Wood House pub, 39 Sydenham Hill, Dulwich SE26 6RS to share stories, raise a glass, and simply be together to celebrate Alex. For those not attending the service but planning on attending the reception, please arrive at the pub from 2:00 PM.

Thank You
Please accept our most sincere thanks for all of your kind words and messages. We have been so comforted by the outpouring of love and support over the last few weeks.

Donations
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider a donation to the Tessa Jowell Foundation - a charity that was close to Alex’s heart. Alex was a passionate supporter of their work to transform treatment and care for brain tumour patients, and gave his time generously to help further their mission.

Just two months before he died, Alex sat down with the Tessa Jowell Foundation to talk with candour and honesty about what it means to live with brain cancer. We invite you to watch that conversation here - it is the most wonderful way to hear him, in his own words.

No livestream details will be emailed to you. You’ll need to refer back to this page on the day of the funeral. At no point will you be asked for any payment details to access the livestream.
