How can we talk about dying? With Dr Kathryn Mannix (Zoom)

  • Poetic Endings 37 David's Road, Forest Hill LONDON United Kingdom (map)

Caring for or supporting someone we love at the end of their life, and managing their affairs after they have died, is a labour of love. Some people have the benefit of clear instructions from their dear person. They tell us how much easier this makes it when there are important decisions to make about care, about funeral planning and about dealing with their dear person's belongings after they have died.

But we know that most people don't have this guidance from each other. They avoid discussing deteriorating health with a sick person, side-step talking about 'what if...?' and then, when they need to know, it's often too late to ask.

Dr Kathryn Mannix

Dr Kathryn Mannix has spent a career in palliative care working with people approaching the end of their life and is the author of the best-selling book With The End In Mind. Louise Winter is an experienced funeral director and the author of We All Know How This Ends, published by Bloomsbury. Join us on Zoom as we mull over what we have learned about these important conversations. We'll share the insights we've learned, and talk about how these important conversations are less tricky and more joyful than you might imagine. There’ll be an opportunity to ask questions and join in the discussion.
