We can help you put together a farewell that's meaningful and relevant to you; whether that's a simple ceremony, a traditional funeral or a personalised celebration of life.
We offer a simple and affordable package covering the essentials. Guided and supported by our experienced team, you can add extras to make the funeral fit your needs. We don't try to sell you anything you don't want or need; all we care about is helping you to put together a funeral which works for you.

1. Poetic Essentials
As standard, our services include:
A telephone consultation to determine whether we’re the right funeral director for you.
An initial meeting with you to discuss all aspects of the funeral. One of our funeral directors (Louise, Clare or Joanna) will meet you in the comfort of your home at your convenience, where we'll give you the time you need to talk everything through. Please get in touch to make an appointment.
Completion of all the necessary paperwork.
Collection of the person who has died from anywhere within the M25.
There's a charge of £175 for our at home or out-of-hours collection service.

Our sensitive approach to taking care of the person who has died. You’re welcome to help wash and dress the person who has died with our support and guidance in Bromley.
The opportunity to spend time with the person who has died in a modern chapel of rest/ family room in Bromley (just 30 minutes from Victoria station). We can help you to figure out how you’d like to spend this time so it’s a helpful and meaningful experience. You can also choose to do this in a grade two listed house next to the river in Hammersmith (additional fee applies depending on your exact requirements). We can also bring the person who has died home, if that works for you (additional fee applies).
Please note - we will need to arrange a suitable date and time in advance.
Ongoing advice on all aspects of the funeral and the ceremony from our experienced team.
Support and guidance to carry the coffin yourself, if you wish to do so, or use of our professional bearers (£60 per bearer).

2. Choose either cremation or burial
The cost of cremation or burial is considered to be a disbursement - a third party cost which we pay on your behalf before the funeral takes place.
The cost of cremation varies widely throughout Greater London. You can see the different crematoria in London here. You don’t need to choose the crematorium that’s local to you.
Fees vary throughout London from £365 to £999. Extra fees apply for double service time and weekend services. Early morning services are often cheaper.
Doctors Fees (cremation only)
By law, two doctors must confirm the cause of death before a cremation can go ahead. If the coroner is involved, this is not necessary.
The cost of burial varies widely throughout Greater London depending on the cemetery or natural burial ground you choose, and whether you’re resident in the borough. It’s also possible to bury someone on private land, although there are certain restrictions.

3. Choose the type of ceremony
If you decide to have a funeral service, you can choose the kind of ceremony you’d like and who you’d like to take it. The process of putting the funeral together can help you to grieve. Sitting down with friends and relatives to share stories, taking time to write a tribute or gathering photos for the order of service is as important as the actual funeral itself.

Our promise to you
We pride ourselves on working transparently. All of our services and prices are clearly listed on our website. We will also provide you with a printed price list when we meet with you for the first time.
During our initial meeting, we’ll talk through the options available and then send an email with an estimate of the total cost of the funeral. We’ll do everything we can to ensure you understand the range of services we offer and how much the funeral will cost including any known disbursements (the fees to be paid on your behalf to doctors, ministers, cemetery or crematoria authorities and other third parties).
If you are struggling to find the funds for the funeral, please get in touch and we’ll do everything we can to help you to have the funeral you want. You can find more information about the help available to you here.
We ask that payment is made in full before the funeral takes place. We can accept payment by bank transfer, credit or debit card or cash. Funeral expenses can also be paid from the estate of the person who has died by submitting the funeral invoice and an original death certificate to the bank.
As part of our commitment to being a modern funeral service, we work with a modern bank called Tide. This means we are unable to accept cheques.
Quality and standards
We work with an experienced team of funeral professionals and adhere to industry codes of practice to ensure we deliver a high level of service. We are recommended by the Good Funeral Guide, the only not-for-profit independent resource for funeral advice in the UK, who inspect us regularly and hold us to account. Our complaints procedure
We hope that you will have a positive experience of working with our team, but should the need arise, we have procedures in place to ensure your concerns are addressed to your satisfaction. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 020 3291 3426 in the first instance and we will do our best to address your concerns. If we are unable to resolve the matter to your satisfaction, you will be put in touch with the Good Funeral Guide, who will investigate your complaint or concerns and take action, if appropriate.
