How it works and how much it costs
We're based in London and can help you to arrange a funeral anywhere within the Greater London area.
Guided and supported by our experienced team, we can help you put together a farewell that's meaningful and relevant; whether that's a simple ceremony or a personalised celebration of life.
We offer a simple and affordable package that covers the essentials. You can then add extras to make the funeral fit your needs. We don't try to sell you anything you don't want or need; all we care about is helping you to put together a funeral which will genuinely help you to deal with the fact someone has died, in whatever way works for you.
We don’t work like conventional funeral directors, so please get in touch so we can talk through what you’d like to do and work out whether we’re a good match for you.
1. The Essentials
As standard, our services include:
An initial meeting with you to discuss all aspects of the funeral. We will meet in the comfort of your home at your convenience, where we'll give you the time you need to talk everything through. Please get in touch to make an appointment.
Completion of all the necessary paperwork.
Collection of the person who has died from anywhere within the M25.
There's a charge of £175 for our out-of-hours service.
Our gentle and sensitive care of the person who has died in brand new facilities in SE6 (South East London) which includes our non-invasive approach, washing and dressing.
The opportunity to spend time with the person who has died in a peaceful and beautiful setting overlooking the river in Hammersmith. We can help you to figure out how you’d like to spend this time so it’s a helpful and meaningful experience (please note this is not a traditional ‘Chapel of Rest’ and we will need to arrange a suitable date and time in advance). We can also bring the person who has died home, if that works for you.
Ongoing advice on all aspects of the funeral and the ceremony from our experienced team.
Support and guidance in carrying the coffin yourself, if you wish to do so, or use of our professional bearers (£60 per bearer).

2. Choose either cremation or burial
Disbursements are third party costs which we pay out on your behalf before the funeral takes place.
The cost of cremation varies widely throughout Greater London. Expect to pay between £300 and £1300. You can see the different crematoria in London here. You don’t need to choose the crematorium that’s local to you.
Doctors Fees (cremation only)
By law, two doctors must confirm the cause of death before a cremation can go ahead. If the coroner is involved, this is not necessary.
3. Your choice of ceremony
If you decide to have a funeral ceremony, you can choose the kind of ceremony you’d like and who you’d like to take it. The process of putting the funeral together can help you to grieve. Sitting down with friends and relatives to share stories, taking time to write a tribute or gathering photos for the order of service is as important as the actual funeral itself.
We can recommend a celebrant to work with you to create a unique and highly personalised funeral that reflects the life of the person who has died, regardless of your religious and spiritual beliefs (non-religious, spiritual, interfaith, civil, humanist, pagan, multi-faith and others). We have experience of funerals from many different faiths and cultures and can also facilitate multi-faith funerals.
Funerals don’t have to stick to any structure or format and you don’t have to have a formal service. You can just play a favourite song on repeat or sit in silence. We can help you to work out how you might want to say goodbye in a way that works for you.
You (or a relative or friend) can lead the funeral service yourself if you’d like to do so. You can put together the ceremony or appoint a flexible celebrant to assist you with certain elements such as how to structure it.
There are no laws stating where a funeral must be held. Community halls, theatres and historic houses may work well for you but check that they will allow the coffin to be there, if that’s important to you. You can even hold the funeral at home or in your garden.

4. Choose a coffin
We have handpicked the best in beautifully designed, well-crafted and ethically sourced and produced coffins. Please see our coffins page for options.

5. Choose the hearse and decide if you'd like any funeral cars
For the first 2 and a half hours. £50 per hour after that.

You can choose the colour of the horses (black or grey) and the colour of their plumes.

As an alternative to traditional funeral vehicles, we can also book a selection of smart Addison Lee cars to follow the hearse from your home, or to take you directly to the funeral.
You don’t have to book traditional funeral limousines. You can drive yourself directly to the crematorium, using your own vehicles, if you’d prefer.
6. The Extras - make the funeral your own
Bespoke orders of service, beautifully presented and designed by our specialist funeral stationers. We can also create postcards, bookmarks and more contemporary printed items for anyone looking for something a little different.
£1 - 3 per copy
We can put together collages of photos in a frame to be displayed at the ceremony. You can then take it home to keep forever. All you need to do is choose the photos and email them over to us.
Scanning in old photographs can take a long time! If you don't want to scan them in yourself, you can give us the original photographs, and we'll do the hard work for you and then return the photographs to you.
We can provide support and guidance in carrying the coffin yourself, or we can bring our professional bearers.
£60 per bearer
We don't routinely embalm but if we think it's necessary, and we have your permission, we will appoint our sensitive embalmer.
If required, we can collect the ashes from the crematorium and deliver to your address (within the M25).
If you decide to supply your own coffin, we will charge a handling fee to cover the costs of receiving the delivery, preparation and storage.
If the funeral is held at multiple locations, such as a church or another venue before the cremation, an additional fee applies.
We charge a weekend supplement to cover additional team costs at weekends.

Our promise to you
We pride ourselves on working transparently. All of our services and prices are listed online.
When we meet with you, we’ll talk through the options available and then send an email with an estimate of the costs. We’ll do everything we can to ensure you understand the range of services we offer and how much the funeral will cost including any known disbursements (the fees to be paid on your behalf to doctors, ministers, cemetery or crematoria authorities and other third parties).

We ask that payment is made in full before the funeral takes place. We can accept payment by bank transfer, credit or debit card or cash.
As part of our commitment to being a modern funeral service, we work with a modern bank called Tide. This means we are unable to accept cheques.
